Privacy Policy
Short version: we use your details to get you prices from licensed pros and book the job. We don't sell your information, and we never share your mobile number or texting consent with anyone for their marketing.
Who we are
Hobwell ("we", "us") runs this website, the customer app and the text messages from Hob, our AI assistant. A person on our team checks Hob's work. This policy covers all three.
What we collect
- What you tell us about the job: the description, any photos, your ZIP code and when you need it.
- Your mobile number, so we can text you prices and updates.
- Your name and address, once you book, so the pro can come.
- Your messages with Hob and our team, by text or in the app.
- Your bookings: the prices you got, the pro you picked, appointment times, and how the job went.
- Your texting consent: when you agreed, the words you agreed to, your IP address and browser type. We keep this as proof you asked for our texts.
- Basic technical data, like your IP address, to stop spam and abuse of the form.
How we use it
- To call pros and get you prices, and to book the one you choose.
- To text you about your request: prices, bookings, reminders and follow-ups.
- To answer your questions and fix problems with a job.
- To improve Hobwell, for example by learning what repairs usually cost. When we use prices this way, we remove anything that identifies you.
- To keep the service safe and follow the law.
Who sees it
- Pros we call for prices hear about the job, your ZIP code and when you need it. They don't get your name or number.
- The pro you book gets your name, address, phone number, the job details and your photos, so they can do the work.
- Companies that help us run Hobwell, only to provide their service to us:
- Twilio, which sends and receives our text messages
- Anthropic, whose AI helps Hob read your messages and photos and write replies
- Google, which helps us search for pros by ZIP code and job type, and provides the website's fonts
- Render, which hosts our website and database
- The law: if we're legally required to, or to protect someone's safety.
- A buyer of our business, if Hobwell is ever sold. This policy would still apply to your information.
We don't sell your personal information. Mobile numbers and texting consent are never shared with anyone for their own marketing.
Text messages
We only text you about requests you make. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop our texts, or HELP for help. See our Texting Terms.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs to work: one to keep the form secure, and one to keep you signed in to the app. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you use Hobwell, and job records for up to 3 years in case there's a problem with a repair. We may keep your texting consent record longer, as proof you asked for our texts. After that, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
Your choices
- See or correct your information: look in the app under "My home", or email us.
- Delete your information: email hobwell.help@gmail.com from anywhere, or ask by text. We'll delete what we don't have to keep by law within 30 days, and tell you when it's done.
- Stop our texts: reply STOP.
Keeping it safe
Our website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and only our team can see your information. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn your information was exposed, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
Hobwell is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell you by text before it applies.
